Life or something like it.

A couple of weeks ago Jessica (a friend from Shorter who recently moved to Astoria) and I decided to have a "tourist day". We started out with classic New York bagels. Went on a trip aboard the Staten Island Ferry (that's where we are in the picture). Walked around the Financial District. Went to Brooklyn for famous pizza. Saw the MoMA's outdoor (weird) exhibit "Streetwalkers". And went to see a Broadway show "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee". And ended the night with karaoke at Doyles. It was a day well spent.
Next I went to Chicago to visit my friend Julie (of Shake, Rattle, and Roll fame in Florida) to see her show, "Sordid Lives".

I had a really good time bumming around the city while Julie was at work. It snowed the night before (thus taking forever for me to actually GET to Chicago) but the weather was lovely and COLD. I went to the Lincoln Park Zoo (which was free!). And Millenium Park. And the Chicago Public Library. And the Museum of Modern Photography (all free!). And even went to see a DePaul University production of The Last Five Years (for FREE!) while Julie did a show. Sordid Lives was fantastic and I had a good time hanging out with Jules and the cast.
The day after I got home I went on a whim to an audition for a show on the Lower East Side and was CAST! So I have been in rehearsals starting at 8:30 am every day since Valentine's. When it FINALLY snowed I might add. And snowed hard. It was nice but I am relieved that it is warming up. Anyway, the show is called "Happy Hour" and it has an ongoing run at the Little Big Theatre run by Micheal Horn. It doesn't pay so there are many constantly changing casts. It's a satire on "relationships, sex and sometimes love". Basically a vaudeville-like collection of funny monologues and sketches. It's fun and we should run every Friday in March (audience pending). So I am excited about that. Though I need to keep auditioning.
So there's the quick update on me. Things are looking up. I'm exhausted.

YEAH! I am so impressed that you have a role. Not surprised, of course. You have such a beautiful voice, such amazing acting ability and are stunningly gorgeous as well.

Wish we could just zoom up there and see your show.

Love you lots, Aunt Debi

Yea! You finally blogged again! Congratulations on your role in "Happy Hour." Dad and I may have to come up there during March instead of April just to see you in it! Brrr! I don't know how you have stood the cold up there! Call us this weekend! Love, Mom
